An overview of the project:
Step App is a revolutionary Web3 fitness app. We’re redefining fitness and making movement fun and interesting for every human on the planet by rewarding any type of activity they do with tokens. It doesn’t matter if you’re walking to get groceries, doing a marathon or working out at home with the help of our killer feature, the AI Coach who actually watches and corrects your form – every activity you do lets you earn.
Problem:
In the age of remote work and online shopping, people have managed to forget that movement is key to staying healthy – both physically and mentally. According to McKinsey Health Institute’s survey, Gen Zers are more likely to report mental health problems – and they are the ones who are more focused on physical and mental wellness, too, tired of getting cheap dopamine from watching short videos all day. However, the younger generations, such as millennials as zoomers, have the lowest income in history, often struggling to pay their rent, let alone dish out hundreds of dollars on coaches and boring fitness apps that only show you what you need to do without any feedback whatsoever. The need to make fitness not only accessible, but also rewarding, is more powerful than ever.
Solution:
Step App is a full-fledged fitness app that anyone can use – no paywalls, no cheating, no hidden payments. We make staying healthy through movement accessible for everyone – from a crypto airdrop hunter to a professional athlete looking to squeeze extra exercise into their daily routine. We’re not done yet, though – after our Step 2.0 rebranding, we’ve hit a huge milestone in fitness – we have made it responsive. Our AI coach not only shows you what to do, but also corrects your form and rewards you for doing exercise correctly, rendering all other fitness apps that only show workout videos near obsolete.
So once you start an exercise you will see how your moves are being traced by the camera,
Each repetition will be analysed by an AI coach, and you will see a score on the screen along with recommendations on how to improve your exercise technique.
Step App wants to make Step Network a DePIN Network, which means that Step App will also be the first Fitness DePIN project in Avalanche Ecosystem.
Step App wants to develop AI Workouts with the help of more and more new exercises. We will reward our users for their help.
Firstly, there will be a great variety of Workouts within our App, other fitness apps and athletes can use this feature to create their custom workouts. Secondly, users decide themselves what trainings, exercises they’d like to have.
How it will work
User does the workout with the help of our AI Coach and records it => send this video to us => receive reward (in $FITFI, Step App tokens) => Step App uses this video to train our AI
More than that, we will offer our users to create the video of their custom workouts and we’ll convert it to AI Workout.
Please explain how your project meets the round eligibility criteria:
Step App is not only the leading move-to-earn App built on Avalanche, but also operates on Step Network which is the biggest subnet of Avalanche Network.
We’re already an established project with an engaged and eager community of over 300,000 people; however, it’s just the beginning, and we are planning to grow our ecosystem a hundred times more and continue to contribute to the Avalanche Ecosystem even more.
Applying for this grant we strive to make Step Network a DePIN Network, and the first Fitness DePIN project on Avalanche Ecosystem. This positively influences the DePIN development in the Avalanche Ecosystem.
How does your project benefit the Avalanche Ecosystem? Please mention any existing or upcoming partnerships:
- Step is not just one of the Move-to-Earn apps, it’s the whole ecosystem with Step App being the flagship, huge token utility, including a great variety of products such as Wallet, Staking, Marketplace, and more. Also, we strive to connect Web2 and Web3 audiences and offer new features that will be interesting for both – everybody needs to stay fit, after all, and we strive to give that opportunity to everyone. We have also reached out far beyond the cluttered Web3 space into Web2 with great partnerships with A-list brands, such as Xiaomi, Lego, Asus and more.
We’ve been also constantly working on driving more attention to Avalanche Ecosystem by partnering with Gaming and DePIN projects
- Step App has redefined the way people do fitness by making it responsive with their newly-released AI Workouts. Now you can not only run, walk or hike, but also do various exercises of different difficulty levels to earn tokens in the app – and the AI Coach will actually tell you if your form is correct, which is something no one in the space has done before. This feature is the revolution in move-to-earn area, that makes Avalanche, the first Ecosystem having this feature available in m2e App.

Step’s been working on a big collaboration for several months already and is about to announce it soon. We do believe this collaboration is a big step not only for our project, but for the Avalanche Ecosystem as well. Unfortunately, we cannot disclose any details so far.
